006 Additional material characteristics

This field is an optional fixed-length data field used when an item contains one or more formats in addition to the main one entered in LDR/06.  It functions an extra 008 field (which is non-repeatable). It might be used, for example, to capture the fact that an otherwise textual manuscript contains drawings. There are 18 character positions (00-17). 

(00)        Enter the code (as in LDR/06) for the additional format of material. (In Alma, this is done from a drop-down menu.)

(01-17)   Correspond to 008/18-34 for each form of material. Consult the MARC manual for appropriate coding.
