Overview

  • Finding aids from ASpace are ingested by HOLLIS and indexed with their corresponding MARC records in Alma. 
  • The match is based on the HOLLIS (Alma) number in the EAD header. 
  • It is expected that EADs and MARC records have a one-to-one correspondence. 

Search the Full Text of Finding Aids 

The main search box in HOLLIS also searches the full text of Finding Aids. Archives and Manuscripts display alongside other content in the results list.  Narrow your search by clicking the Archives/Manuscripts resource type facet. You can also search by EAD record ID straight from the main search box. (e.g. sch00222 or hou00932)

Snippets in result list

The results list in HOLLIS will display a snippet from the Finding Aid if matches to your search term are found in the "archdesc" section of the EAD.  

Links in result list

  • A "Finding Aid" link will appear in HOLLIS search results for any Alma MARC record that has a link in the MARC 555 $u. 
  • "View online" links are present when holdings contain an 856 $u. 

Known Issues

A portion of EAD files which are very long are not fully indexed. This issue is with the LTS development team.Â
