Syndetics Tables of Contents

The library subscribes to a service called Syndetics Tables of Contents that provides tables of contents data for dozens of publishers. The records from Syndetics are updated weekly, and attached to bibliographic records in HOLLIS+ when we have a print or ebook, based on a match on ISBN. This service is not available for HOLLIS Classic. 

Known issue: if a TOC is attached to a record based on an incorrect ISBN, it will remain on that record even after the ISBNs are corrected. A solution for this is in progress with Ex Libris. 

Records that have been enhanced with Syndetics TOCs have a "snippet" in the search results, and a link to view the Syndetics TOC (with pagniantion where available). See below. If you encounter a snippet that is different from the full TOC, please let us know. This is usually a metadata error. 

 

 

Note that many records also contain MARC fields (tag 505) with TOCs, which are not connected to the Syndetics TOCs:
