Records from the Primo aggregated index are categorized by Ex Libris. Records from Alma are categorized using traditional categories. The categories for each source are outlined below. See also Ex Libris definitions of aggregated index resource types.

PCI records are clustered (grouped under "View all versions"), and sometimes different items in the cluster have different resource type definitions for prefilter (dropdown menu) purposes. This can result in cases where, even when the dropdown menu or facet is used, some other resource types show up in the results.

CDI resource types and definitions

A single record can have multiple resource type assignments (for faceting, filtering purposes). Only one type can display. The precedence column shows the prioritization for choosing the display type when a record has multiple assignments.

Example: A thesis will be calculated as a Book because of LDR values, and will be calculated as a Dissertation if it has a 502 note. It will display as Dissertation, which has precedence over Book.
