Refiling material requested through Aeon

This page documents the procedures for refiling materials that are stored onsite or that were ordered from HD.  

Refiling onsite materials

When you are finished using materials that are stored onsite, find the records in your Aeon user account and highlight them. Select the Route button at the top of the screen, then select In Retrieval/Reshelving, then select Item Reshelved.  Please note that routing items to Items Reshelved moves them into the Request Finished queue.

  • You can click the Reshelve Item button, but you will only be able to select Awaiting Item Reshelving.  You would then have to route the record to Item Reshelved.  Using the Route button instead of the Reshelve Item button saves a step. 
  • You can also Route items to Unused/Inactive, then Request Finished to complete your transaction.  Items routed to Item Reshelved and Request Finished are both added to the Request Finished queue even though the route names are different.

Return the material to the vault and remove the call slip from the shelf or drawer.  If there is a copy of the call slip with the item you are reshelving, please be sure to remove the call slip before reshelving the item. Dispose of the call slips in a recycle bin.  If the call slip has a researcher's name on it, please dispose of the slip in the shedder bin on the 3rd floor. 

Refiling materials stored at HD

When you are finished using materials that are stored at HD, find the records in your Aeon user account and highlight them.  Select the Reshelve Item button, then Awaiting HD pickup.  You may also select the Route button, then In Retrieval/Reshelving, then Awaiting HD pickup

Bring the items being returned to HD to the Reading Room and place them on the HD Refile cart.  Please be sure to keep the call slips with the material.

Returning boxes to HD that were requested through SLTracker 

When you are ready to return your boxes to HD, you will first need to go into SLTracker and clear out your borrower information

  • Perform a search for the boxes you are returning
  • Delete the information from Order date field
  • Delete the information from the Borrower field

Bring the boxes to the Reading Room with a note saying "HD refile, requested through SLTracker/outside of Aeon."
