B01 Detailed Descriptions

B01 - Bound materials, Standard Photography  ^

High quality digital imaging (captured at 300 dpi) for complete volumes where the emphasis is on legible content.

Eligible source materials

  • Machine printed bound volumes in stable condition with text block intact
  • Content comfortably clear of the gutter - at least 1/4" on either side of the gutter. 
  • Cover/page size - up to 11.5"x 17" (portrait position)
  • Binding thickness - up to 3"
  • Volume must open to at least 110 degree

Note

  • Especially fragile materials and/or items with non-standard characteristics; paperbound, parchment, handwritten, tip-ins or inserted pages, loose or extremely brittle pages, thin or cockled paper may be considered eligible following a review by a conservator and/or Imaging Services staff.  Such materials may require additional charges for handling.
  • Order minimum of at least 1,000 pages.
  • All items imaged cover to cover including blank pages.
  • Usually, digital objects will be delivered via Harvard Mirador Viewer.

Workstation setup

The materials under this category will be sent to one of our book-scan stations or V book-cradles (two-side).
