Aeon ArchivesSpace Addon
The ArchivesSpace Addon allows staff using the Aeon client to import resource and top container information directly from ArchivesSpace into an Aeon request record. It can only be accessed through an open request window in the Aeon client.
This addon was created by Atlas Systems but has been customized for use at Harvard.Â
Note: You will need an ArchivesSpace account to be able to use this addon.
Activating the Addon
In the Aeon dashboard, navigate to the Manage ribbon and click on the Addons button.
Highlight the ArchivesSpace Interface addon in the Manage Addons window. Fill in the AS_Username and AS_Password values for your repository and toggle the Active option on the left to Yes. Then click the Save Settings button.
Note: At Harvard, the username and password values for the addon are specific to each repository, not individual users. You may need to contact your local Aeon expert to get the appropriate settings values for your repository.
 Accessing the Addon
To access the search addon, navigate to the ArchivesSpace tab in any open request record.

Creating a New Request
From the record for the user for whom you want to create a request, click on the New Request for User icon. In the new request record, navigate to the ArchivesSpace tab. The tab will automatically display the main ArchivesSpace login page. You will need to click on the Sign In link and then login using your HarvardKey.
Note: The addon works best if you maximize the Aeon transaction window.
Â
After you have logged in, you will be able to search in the ArchivesSpace staff interface just as you normally would.

Importing Your Search Results
You can import collection information or collection and top container instance information.
At the collection level, click on the Import Citations button to import basic collection information, such as Title, Creator, and Call Number.
Once you click an import button, Aeon will automatically take you back to the Detail tab with the appropriate item information filled in.
At the item level, if there is a top container instance attached to the item, you will be able to click on the Import Instance button to import top containers and basic collection information.
Once you click an import button, Aeon will automatically take you back to the Detail tab with the appropriate item information filled in.
Working with an Existing Request
You can use the addon to verify or complete citation and/or container information for an existing request. When you open an existing request, the addon will automatically complete a container search using the title, author, or call number value in the request. You may also use the Title, Author, or Call Number search buttons on the Addon ribbon to complete searches in ArchivesSpace using existing Aeon transaction field values.
