Barcode Lookup - DV is an enterprise dashboard for large sets (up to 100K) that accepts files of barcodes as input and matches them to barcodes in Alma, HD and ReCAP. The dashboard presents results that include Library Code/Owner, Process Type, On Shelf status and more. The dashboard also provides a list of barcodes that were not found. Using this dashboard involves submitting a file of barcodes in Data Visualization and having the file process through Data Flows to create results for review.

Barcode Lookup - DV is refreshed with new data when Data Flows run at noon and 8pm. Depending on the size of the input file, results for new data sets should be available within 20 minutes.

Note: This dashboard is currently restricted to a small number of users. To request upload of a file of 10K or more barcodes to Barcode Lookup - DV, please submit a request to LTS Support with your file of barcodes attached (see below for file requirements).

Opening Barcode Lookup - DV dashboard

  1. Open HART Analytics in Production: https://hart.biprod.huit.harvard.edu/analytics 
  2. Select Dashboards menu
  3. Select Harvard Library Enterprise > Barcode Lookup - DV

The dashboard will open with results for the barcodes uploaded to LibraryBarcode.csv  in Data Visualization and processed through the Alma, HD, and ReCAP data flows. 

Creating a new data set for the dashboard

Create the file:

  1. In a text editor such as Notepad or WordPad, create a file of barcodes on your local computer. Do not use Excel.
  2. The file must have one barcode per row.
  3. The first row of the file must be a header row with text 'BARCODE' (no quotes).
  4. The file must have the filename extension .csv

Upload the file (for LTS):

  1. Open HART Data Visualization: https://hart.biprod.huit.harvard.edu/dv
  2. Search for LibraryBarcode file
  3. Change the display mode from Grid to List
  4. Note the Modified date. If Modified has the current date then wait another day to upload your file. 
  5. Click on the three vertical dots in the far right of the row and select Reload Data
  6. Navigate to the file of barcodes to be uploaded and Open.
