Project improvementChris
  • Need more detail on rollout plan and availability to admin and training resources.

Emily
  • Meeting setup with Chris to get thoughts on future service
  • Use profile - 75 projects (containers), 846 participating users, 5,000 have access
  • 48% bounce rate - visit and do not return after one day
  • GPT 4 32k most popular currently
  • Full cost is currently >$25k / mo
  • It is a pilot - if we are moving forward, need to operationalize in a more rational way, how it is funded, and what it means. Also consideration of when enterprise tools will be available
  • Chris - would be interested in learning course relatred resource load and how it will scale as more courses use it.. Question - FAS admin box would likely be small increment? - Emily - yes.
  • What would it take to grant them access? Expect use curve to be flat. Maybe 500 people using it day one, perhaps with spikes.  On postdoc - most are in sciences and most will ant data analytics toolkit an dwill have PI's pay.  Student side, 5,000 in college.  8,000 grad students in GSAS.
  • Emily - we need to rearchitect for growth.  If somebody wants course access - they go in their own sandbox. However, all FAS in sandbox - in process if redistributing across the 75 use cases.  Question now - how many courses will come in and how will we fit them into the container structure..  Need to get Klara's ok and determien if sandbox will stay around after December.
  • Next semester - looking at creating chat bots for courses and will rely on sandbox.  There is a world where both exist - need ADA get chat gpt, want chat bot, get sandbox, etc depending on use case. Trying ot finaloize set of services, determie nfunding requirements, and determine how to staff.
  • Chris - we should give existing FAS admin acess to the FAS standbox or create a new one for them (including SEAS).  Better to add them to current then wall them out. Priority - Faculty → Curses → admin → student Non course) → post docs (sandbox is not research useful.
  • Metrics per course will be valuable - possibly research focus in itself.EMily - need for analytics for admin use?  Chris - no benefit in separating academic and admin usage.
  • Chris - overdue that we build a structure for STEM AI faculty intereste working group that is either an expansion of current meeting or preferrably, run an every other Friday brown bag lunch that have an interste in this domain.
    • Adam - in workshops, gathering list of power uses, pretty sparce so far, but current people could be invitees as power users
    • Rebecca - SEAS learning incubator has weekly lunches - we could invite some of their faculty.  Every Wednesday, mostly about gn ai and pedagogy.
    • Chris - proposal - Science + SEAS  oint message to faculty  that reinforces sandbox exists, reinforce Boks center, gather faculty together, brown bag Fridays - Hybrid.  Bring your own lunch.  Also help them connect over slack channel that Adam setup.  Adam has a form that can be sent to get acess to the channel.  Logan was not able to get into using the link becuase he wasn't par tof the workspace.  Tell epople to go to canvas ILE faculty site, then slack, .  Adam and Logan will test.
    • Rebecca - may need less push to be creative and just give them off the shelf valuable uses.
  • Chris - STEM AI brownbag lunch, 12 -1 on zoom, third friday of the month.  Agenda, intrros, classification of tool for faculty, course mgmt, homework, class demos, syllabus generation, etc., lightning demo, open for discussion. Main goal is to build community.  Find 1 or 2 people who have done something fun and share experience.  Urgent action - Greg / Logan/Rebecca - find out who is doing cool things and invite them to give a 5 min overview.
  • Chris - training, nobody at Harvard seems to own it. Some videos already exist.  In paritculary. good introductory how to use thesandbox video.  Current conent presupposes familiarity with people.  What models are good for what, fast touchstones.  Can we gather existing material and disseminate in different channels (inventory the channels / action) . Would be great to have one stop aggregation with a global curator at university level, or send everything everywhere.
    • Emily has some content.

Action items

  • Emily B. - confirm with Klara FAS admin access.
  • Christopher Stubbs send notifications for brown bag session on 12/15.
  • Lawrence Eribarne aggregate on wiki, link, descriptor, of training resources.
