Handling Pseudopatron Loans Migrated from Aleph
In Alma, work orders are used for the same purposes that psuedopatrons were needed in Aleph - to track physical materials going through different library processes.
After the migration to Alma, Harvard stopped using psuedopatrons and has switched to using work orders. Pseudopatrons cannot be created in Alma, and new loans/requests cannot be created on migrated pseudopatrons.
If an item is on loan to a PP and you want to create a work order for your unit:
Use the Scan In Item page and set a status. This will create the work order and automatically discharge any loans.
- Proceed with Handling Items with Work Orders
- Mark the Work Order Done when it is complete to send the item back to its owning library.

Once all the items on loan to a pseudopatron are processed, and all hold requests made by the pseudopatron are processed, the pseudopatron will be deleted from Alma.
