Post-cataloging workflow

CATALOGERS:

Once cataloged

  1. go to Fulfillment > Scan in items
  2. select "review shelves" from Set Status To menu
  3. Scan in barcode

These items are still in a tech services work order, the status will be review shelves.

LIBRARY ASSISTANT:

Final QC check for books/pamphlets/videos going to HD in grey bins.  Note: Books/pamphlets staying onsite have a different workflow.

Login to Alma.

Check "Alma location" on toolbar. Choose: Schlesinger Library - SCH Tech Services

  1.  Choose Fulfillment (from left side column of options)– Scan in Items

      2.  On "Scan in items" tab:   Automatically print slip  NO     /       Done  YES


  3.  Check the verso of title page for written in pencil:  BARCODE #  (top left of page); Schlesinger or Schlesinger Library (left side of page along edge); Book fund name/ gift of (along bottom center of page). Update if incomplete (ask librarian for Book Fund).

  4.  Check that book is covered (mylar or CoLibri).

  5.  Scan in item barcode of each book.   Check that the destination and request/process type become the following: 

    Return to Offsite Storage (HD) (Owned by: Schlesinger Library)   and  Transit for Reshelving

NOTE: If these fields say something else, put book aside for librarian.

6.  Once all the materials have been scanned and proofed, bring them down to the HD Room (008 in the basement) and pack them into the gray bins (only gray–this indicates new transfers, rather than red which is for returning materials to HD that had been recalled). For more information about packing up materials, see this guide from HD. Bins should weigh no more than 35 lbs (approximately).

7. After all the bins are packed, submit a pickup request to HD using the Pickup Request Form to indicate how many bins are ready.
