Supplies and Ordering

The Published Materials Department uses a variety of supplies for end-processing/preservation from several different sources/vendors. The Library Assistant is responsible for monitoring supply levels and reordering as necessary. Most supply ordering will need to go through the Library's Administrative Assistant. There is an archival supplies ordering spreadsheet on SharePoint that changes for each fiscal year; new order requests can be added to that document at any time.

Here are the common supplies used by the department with their source, description, and ordering information. Many of these supplies come in sizes/dimensions other than what's listed here–these are simply the most used options. Others can be ordered on an as-needed basis/as requested; some supplies may also be used by the Manuscripts team, so they may be able to share if a limited number of Hollinger boxes or archival folders are needed, for instance.

The other most commonly used housing supply is CMI boxes; these are made to measure based on dimensions we send to the manufacturer. The LA can order these directly from CMI by sending the spreadsheet of measurements to cmiboxes@archivalboxes.com. They will send an invoice that can then be processed by the Administrative Assistant.
