Indexes in Alma

Out-of-the-Box Indexes (Not Configurable)

Notes about the default Alma indexes:

  • When indexes are available at the Title level (All Titles, Physical Titles, etc.), the indexes refer to elements at the bibliographic level.

    • For example, the All Titles: LC Call Number is an index of call numbers from the 050 field in the bibliographic record

  • When indexes are at the Physical Holdings/Items level, they refer to indexed elements from the holding/item

    • For example, Permanent Call Number is data from the 852

  • Some fields are available under Basic Search, others are only available under Advanced Search. Harvard can choose which indexes appear where.
