Fix for Google blocking Alma messages, Fall 2023

Body:

Hello,

I’m writing with an update from the Alma Fulfillment Working Group (FWG) as the group’s communication lead.

It has been brought to our attention that, due to security changes, Google is sometimes blocking—not even routing to spam—Alma messages that are sent to private Gmail accounts (note: g.harvard.edu accounts are not impacted).

While we explore options toward a solution, patrons can ensure that they receive Alma notifications by changing their primary email to a non-Gmail email address.

Please contact the FWG co-chairs Kara Young (kara_young@harvard.edu) and Jackson Childs (jchilds@fas.harved.edu) if you have any questions.

Best,

Julie

Hello,

I am happy to report that this issue has been resolved. If patrons continue to report issues with receiving Alma notices please have them check their spam folder add hl_access_services@harvard.edu and alma-noreply@harvard.edu to their approved senders list. If that does not resolve the problem, please report the issue to LTS.

Best,

Julie
