Susan
- We need to do April highlights for TS.
- Start thinking about how we want to handle TS goals; would like to start in June.
- Should we keep the structure the same as last year?
- Discuss what areas we want to focus in the department. One change/addition should be on the outcome and what success looks like. That will help people come up with actionable goals.
- Plan on having department discussion in June.
- Side note from Adrien:
- From the Houghton all-staff meeting, one of the discussions in her group was about building DIBAR work into our continuing work.
- Question on scanning - pre-COVID scanning limit? Dorothy confirmed there was no limit previously on scanning.
- Communication and management - are there better strategies?
- Weekly reports are working well
- Hybrid/flex-time work environment in the future
- What would that look like?
- How do we make it equitable?
Dorothy
- Question on Inclusive discussion meetings being mandatory - Some felt uncomfortable and raised feelings of antagonism. Should attendance be mandatory?
- If a particular meeting is going to cause anxiety or stress based on that month's topic, then the person should have the option to be excused. But readings should be mandatory; the reading list contains great articles for providing shared baseline.
- Out all week next week, as well as half day today.
Adrien
- Monique and Adrien are going to start working onsite on May 25.
- Annalisa continues to be onsite on Mondays. Betts and Annalisa can start working on projects onsite that were created while working from home.
- Reparative Archival Task Force officially approved by SPARC and will be reporting to Joint Processing Guidelines Group. Vernica is running scripts.
- Irina will be talking about the Mrs. project in June.
- Will not be doing high school program this year.
Lewis
- Keeping statistics every couple of months of purchases.
- Longer onsite hours (9-3) starting next week.
- Things moving along well.
- A couple of emails from students came in related to working at Houghton TS.
Linda
- Linda and Adrien joined the Houghton Diversity and Inclusion Work Group's meeting this week to talk about SPARC DIBAR and opportunities to collaborate.
- Cataloging Discussion Group meeting raised awareness of the newly formed SACO DIBAR group to submit subject heading change proposals to the Library of Congress since the Change the Subject Task Force is no longer active. ITS has also discussed issues concerning race-focused subject headings in records.
